In October 2023, the Church of England published the National Safeguarding Standards and Quality Assurance Framework.

This encouraged all church bodies to assess their safeguarding work against five national standards:

Standard 1 - Culture, Leadership and Capacity
Standard 2 - Prevention
Standard 3 - Recognising, Assessing and Managing Risk
Standard 4 - Victims and Survivors
Standard 5 - Learning, Supervision and Support

The above document recognises that everything can't be done at once.  Therefore, it suggests that church bodies focus on different standards over a three-year cycle.

Each diocese has chosen the standard(s) that they want to focus on at present.

The Progress view of Safeguarding Dashboards displays the progress towards each chosen standard.  A parish should aim to make at least 70% progress as soon as possible.
